On Wednesday evening, May 15, 2013, I did my first library book talk at the WPL. We had a great turnout consisting of Westport townspeople, my students and their parents. I was happy to tell them about the process that led to the publication of Last Ghost at Gettysburg and discuss the book itself and the future of T.J. Jackson Mysteries. Afterward, we sold a good number of books which I was happy to sign. Special thanks to Kris Nash for helping put the evening together.

Thanks to columnist Sally Allen for her review/interview piece on Last Ghost at Gettysburg. It was a pleasure speaking to her, and the results were spectacular. Read the article and I'm sure you'll agree.
This past Saturday we kicked off our Last Ghost at Gettysburg book tour with an appearance at Hobbytown USA of Fairfield and it was quite a success. Despite some gorgeous weather we had a solid turnout and sold a good amount of books. Thanks to all who came out and to Hobbytown USA owners Marc and Andrea Rosenbloom for hosting the event.
Next up: A speaking engagement at The Westport Public Library, May 15 from 7:30-8:30 PM. There will be books available for sale. The following are the dates for our book tour. If any further events are added, I will let you know ASAP. Copies of the book will be available for sale at all events. Hope to see you at one!

We're now set for a Meet & Greet at the Fairfield University Bookstore (formerly Borders) from 12PM-3PM on Saturday, May 25. This is our second store date, the first being at Hobbytown USA of Fairfield from 12PM-2PM on Saturday, April 27. I'll let you know of any further opportunities!
What a surprise to visit the Fairfield Patch this morning and see myself and T.J. as the lead story! Many thanks to Caitlin Mazzola for a job well done. Her feature was thorough and well thought-out. We're steadily getting the word out there on T.J Jackson. Our next goal is to coordinate something with my hometown library in Fairfield; hopefully, an appearance in Gettysburg is down the road. Thanks to everyone who's liking T.J. on Facebook.
With a publication target date of March 25, things are getting hectic. In the past two weeks I've attended The Big Book Club conference at Mohigan Sun Casino, where I had the opportunity to chat with best-selling author Brad Meltzer; been interviewed by the Westport News and our CMS school paper, The Colt; set up interviews with the Fairfield Patch and the Staples HS newspaper, Inklings; been contacted by a museum in Gettysburg about a possible promotional appearance, and arranged a meeting with the Westport Public Library about a spring event coordinated with our schools. I'm still hoping to connect with our own library here in Fairfield, as well as our historical society. I'm also trying to get the book into as many gift shops in and around Gettysburg as possible, and will be sending advance copies for review to the major Civil War National Park museum gift shops for inspection. Meanwhile, good friends Mark and Andrea Rosenbloom, owners of Hobbytown USA franchises in Fairfield and Stamford, are distributing promo cards for the book, and we're discussing appearances at those sites. Every day brings exciting opportunit
To see the trailer for Last Ghost at Gettysburg, click on that title on my homepage. The trailer was a collaborative effort: I wrote the text, picked the music and found most of the images: my daughter Caroline added some other images (and the cool "lightning" sequence as a segue between past and present), then edited the music, images and text. I think you'll agree she did a great job. Also, my school's computer teacher, Deb Perry, did the Photoshop on the image of T.J., LouAnne and Bortnicker, for which 3 of our students graciously volunteered.
Soon it will be seen on Facebook and YouTube. Hope you like it! After a little trial and error, artist Lynsee Lauritsen and I arrived at this image for our cover. The hardest thing was the shadowing and tinting to give a night effect while maintaining the proper amount of detail. I hope you'll agree that Lynsee did a great job. I always wanted the mounted rider on the rearing horse, but the Confederate flag was purely her idea-a great touch. |
